This is what you see when your desktop has loaded the first time - friendly and attractive, you are immediately presented with a tip to help you get the most out of your experience with Ark Linux and KDE.

To run any program, you simply click on the K in the lower left corner of your screen. Here you see the System submenu, which is where the core utilities for your computer are situated.

Browsing websites and your computer is as simple as starting up Konqueror, the KDE webbrowser.

Want to write a letter or a dissertation? Ark Linux includes OpenOffice.org, of course customised to fit in with the rest of your desktop.

Play your music using the world's most advanced music player, the award winning Amarok.

Play games using Ark Linux - For example Freeciv, the Free clone of Sid Meier's Civilization.

Play games with Ark Linux - For example Supertux, a hop and jump game in the style of Super Mario Bros.

If you need to set up anything on your computer, simply start the friendly but powerful Mission Control, the system preferences tool developed by the Ark Linux team.

If you need any software, start up Kynaptic, either using Mission Control's Install Software option, or by starting it directly through using the Kynaptic entry in the System submenu of the K Menu. If you find anything missing in it, never hesitate to tell us about it!

I'm a big fan of the Mac's Aqua theme  and of OS X, (although wonderful OS, it

still lacked the power I needed hence why I use GNU Linix, specifically Ark

Linux - No offense to Mac).

So, as you can see in the screenshot (of Konqueror) I have used the KDE

theme "Baghira" (which means "Panther"). I'm using both the style and window

deco only slighly modified (via its config dialogs).

The look is clean, clear, easy on the eyes without compromising usability.

Bero's desktop -- I don't customize the look and feel too much, because most of my work happens in text mode applications anyway -- lots of konsoles, vi, gcc, make, kvirc and konqueror are all I really need ;)

I always looked for a distro of Linux that was very user-friendly and didn't require past experiences with it. Ark-Linux was the one for me. It's a great experience to work on an OS that I have never used before. Oh, and I LOVED the idea of putting the brick game in the OS installer. This distrobution of Linux is just too fun! You don't need to be a highly educated computer engineer or programmer to use Ark Linux; a high-school student like me can use and enjoy it. Ark Linux is definately my favorite distro of Linux.

Oh and the desktop image? That is one reason I don't trust Microsoft ;)
